BatsQLD works as a distributed network of carers and rescuers, with our main region of operation being the greater Gold Coast area in South-East Queensland. We have a central hotline run by volunteer operators who coordinate incoming rescue calls from the general public, while our rescuers use their own means of transportation to go out and assist animals in distress. Similarly, our carers look after our patients at their homes until they have recovered and can return back to the wild. However, we do run a central facility for soft releasing hand-raised orphans and longer-term rehab animals – a large flight aviary that is supported by a daily roster of volunteer helpers during release periods.
These beautiful creatures are like flying puppies. They are extremely affectionate, very intelligent and curious. All and any help we can get to protect these unique animals will be of tremendous value. You can make a difference in many ways!
